WOMEN'S & CHILDREN'S HEALTH RESEARCH INSTITUTE (WCHRI)

ABOUT WCHRI

The Women's & Children's Health Research Institute (WCHRI) is an independent research institute committed to understanding basic mechanisms involved in health and disease and to developing intellectual property beneficial to the health and development of children.

The Women's & Children's Health Research Institute was founded in 1989 to carry out research aimed at the prevention and treatment of childhood disease. WCHRI now has over 70 staff and students spanning research in immunology, gastrointestinal development and disease, wound healing and child nutrition, with the control of growth, development and tissue repair in infants and children as an overall research theme.

WCHRI distinguishes itself from most research organisations by integrating early stage ('fundamental') with later stage, strategic research and applying that knowledge to the development of new therapeutic or preventative health strategies.
